The Trans Gouritz Cycle Race of 2018 took place over five days in May. There were 18 riders this year which was a huge improvement on the four riders in 2017 – talk about growth! The riders included a couple of very big names in MTB and Cyclocross, including Hannele Steyn and Fourie Kotze. Timing of the race was excellent as the weather was not too hot for the participants.Find out more »
BIRD IDENTIFICATION & CONSERVATION COURSE 'Flight for Birders' was developed to assist novices and experienced birdwatchers to become involved in bird-watching in a practical and sustainable way. Basic steps in the identification of birds are highlighted and the identification of garden birds, water birds, birds of prey and more difficult species such as swallows, waders and 'little brown jobs' are discussed systematically. We had an excellent exchange of learning experiences and were happy to welcome them back to South Africa and our special space. Celebrating music, nature and country living in the magical Grootvadersbosch Valley, located in the Gouritz Cluster Biosphere Reserve. The festival brings some of South Africa’s most prominent musicians to this secretive – yet lush – valley, in the Overberg region in the Western Cape between Heidelberg and Swellendam.
