Mr Hendrik S Visser

GCBR Board Director
Board Director since 17 June 2015

Hendrik is the Director of Development Planning at Hessequa Municipality and is responsible for the coordinated and harmonious development of the Municipality, in such a way that it will most effectively promote the health, safety, good order, amenity, convenience and general welfare of the Municipality, as well as economy in the process of Planning. It takes a lot of patience, dedication, and hard work to reach the top of one’s profession and as hard to keep that position. His portfolio further includes the responsibility of the area’s environmental management, economic development and tourism.

He has a BA (Hons) in Urban Geography as well as a Magister in Urban and Regional Planning (MUTRP), both obtained from the University of the Free State.

His professional memberships include the South African Council of Planners and the South African Planning Institute.

Hendrik Visser - Director - Gouritz Cluster Biosphere Reserve
Over the period of his career, Hendrik has acquired work experience in legislation and policy, spatial, urban and rural planning and design, regional planning, strategic planning and management, land use management, environmental management, as well as property development and management.

Hendrik attributes his success to his love and passion for the area and he is also familiar with its well-known fishing spots, lovely beaches and, of course, the adventure motorcycle routes. He has developed a knowledge and appreciation of the area and he thinks the Garden Route is an excellent place to ride his motorcycle, for canoeing, walking, mountain biking or simply sipping a glass of wine.
