Project Objective
This initiative was created to supplement the Jobs for Carbon restoration project, through the wholesale selling of spekboom plants.
The value-added product, “#spekkies”, were spekboom cuttings presented in a biodegradable pot (compot). The cuttings were sustainably sourced: being the offcuts from the Jobs for Carbon in-field rehabilitation efforts.
Whilst supporting entrepreneurship within the organisation, and specifically within the J4C project, the #spekkies initiative also had a strong focus on promoting climate change awareness. This was done through the sale of the potted spekboom plants, which often accompanied presentations and promotional events for the project and company.
