The restoration team kicked off the year by conducting follow-up plant biodiversity assessments at two sites in the Upper Goukou Catchment.
Initial baseline assessments were conducted between June and July 2024 to document the pre-clearing conditions of these sites. Shortly afterward, the contracted clearing teams cleared invasive alien plants. The restoration team has now returned to carry out follow-up assessments.
These assessments are essential for tracking changes in the ecological state of the sites and evaluate the effectiveness of the clearing work. Additionally, follow-up assessments help identify areas requiring further intervention and improve our understanding of how the ecosystem is responding over time which further guide future management decisions.
