We are proud to partner with the Hessequa Art Route, sponsoring a high school art competition themed “inheems”. “Inheems” is the Afrikaans word for ‘indigenous’, which is exactly what this competition is celebrating through various creative mediums.
If you are between the ages of 13 and 19 years old, and go to high school within the Hessequa municipal region, you are eligible enter this art competition.
The art competition categories will be the following:
- Drawing
- Painting
- Graphic design
- Photography
Prizes will be awarded for each category:
1st: R1000
2nd: R500
3rd: R300
All entries must be submitted to your public library in Heidelberg, Riversdale and Albertinia by 29 September 2023.

An art exhibition will be hosted on Wednesday, 25 October at the Riversdale Town Hall showcasing the teens’ “inheems” artworks.
