“We are very grateful to the Gouritz Cluster Biosphere Reserve for sponsoring our planting project: trees were collected from Renu-Karoo yesterday. Also thanks to Philip Esau at CapeNature Uniondale for organising spekboom cuttings.😀

Thanks to our micro grant from the Gouritz Cluster Biosphere Reserve, five of us from Uniondale spent the week digging holes and planting. Great to be fighting climate change and keeping fit at the same time

Cleaning and preparation.

The equipment container also arrived during the week.

The hardest part about planting spekboom is digging the holes.

One of 200 hundred holes! Here Marian puts the finishing touches.

Elrico smiles: the first spekboom are in!

Delalio and Shane putting in the first of 20 indigenous Vachellia karoo and Rhus lancea trees.

Valerie preparing the indigenous garden at the entrance.

The first line of spekboom in.

Planting in the rain!

The first free-weight exercise equipment.

Feeling strong!
