The Gouritz Cluster Biosphere Reserve (GCBR) is a 3.2-million-hectare area that has been designated by UNESCO as a place of megadiversity. As an action orientated non-profit company, the GCBR is driven to protect, restore and effectively manage the ecosystems within its domain. Purpose of positionTo manage and coordinate the Friends of the Biosphere (FOB) programme within the GCBR region. Develop partnerships to provide financial support to community led environmental initiatives and soliciting support from local businesses to fund these projects. 
QualificationsRelevant diploma or degree in any of the following fields is advantageous: business management/ marketing/ public relations/ communications / project management.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Introduce and promote the FOB programme to local businesses and execute cold call visits to enroll participants in the initiative.
  • Develop appropriate communication strategies and customer relationship management methodologies to build and strengthen stakeholder relationships within the GCBR region.
  • Critically evaluate all grant applications received in adherence to the FOB programme’s criteria and objectives.
  • Oversee and manage the FOB programme’s small grants derived from contributions by businesses to ensure equitable and transparent allocation of funds to approved projects.
  • Work closely with the Finance Administrator to track all financial activities and generate financial reports for submission to project stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement a robust social media strategy to promote the FOB’s activities and initiatives.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • At least 2-3 years’ experience in customer relationship management.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must demonstrate a genuine passion for people, environmental conservation and community well-being.
  • Skilled proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Prior experience in creating content for social media and website platforms is highly advantageous.
  • Fundraising experience is advantageous
  • Must live the GCBR values of integrity, innovation, collaboration and sustainability.
